Amazon the Cloud computing, E-commerce, Artificial intelligence, Consumer electronics, Digital distribution giant opened its world’s largest Amazon campus in Hyderabad, India. It is the first Amazon-owned campus outside India.
The campus is stretched along in a massive 3 million square feet construction area, of which 1.8 million square feet is for office space.
It took 39 months and to build a campus which took steel more than an Eiffel tower and can house 65 football fields, this makes it Amazon’s largest Campus around the globe in terms of total area.
39 Conference Rooms, 15,000 Employee sitting capacity, 49 Elevators, all-day cafeteria, and a Helipad are some of the many facilities which the campus is built around.
Currently, Amazon India is headed by Amit Aggarwal who is a pass out from IIT-Kanpur.
Apart from offices in Hydrabad Amazon has invested in 3 fulfillment Centres, two sorting Centres and 90 delivery stations in Telangana.
This clearly shows how important is India’s market for Amazon and its continuous fight to capture a major portion of it before its competitors (Walmart) does.
